3 years (6 semester).
1.
STPM with THREE (3) principals including General Paper and Chemistry,
and either Physics/Mathematics. This programme emphasizes on high technology for production and manufacturing of polymers and composites. Students will be given an option to specialize in either Material Technology or Product and Process Technology. With computer Aided Design/Engineering/Manufacturing application, student will understand product design and the analysis of polymer flow. At the end of this programme, students must undertake a three month attachment programme within the polymer industry.
CARRIER PROSPECT AND OPPORTUNITIES FOR FURTHER STUDY Career
opportunities are in abundance in this field. Graduates may be employed
in either material or product manufacturing companies, where career
opportunities range from Production Manager, Operation Manager, Quality
Assurance Manager or Research Officer. The laboratories and workshop are fully equipped with machinery, physical testing and processing equipment. The workshop is equipped with two injection moulding (will become 3 in 1999) machines, extrusion and film blowing machine, five two-roll mills, four hot-presses, ball-mill, autoclave, thermoforming machine and others. The laboratories include physical testing laboratory, polymer chemistry laboratory and analytical laboratory. Some of the instruments available are, tensometer, Monsanto Rheometer, Melt Flow Indexer, GPC, DSC, IR, HPLC etc.
